Charlton House is one of the few remaining Jacobean houses in London and is
reputedly haunted by the amorous Sir William Longhorne.
Despite his two marriages and numerous attempts to produce an heir, Sir
William died without ever managing to become a father. However, it seems
that he has carried his obsession of fatherhood to the grave, for on a
number of occasions he is thought to have tried to enter the bedrooms of
female guests who take his fancy!
The house is haunted by a servant girl who carries a young baby in her arms.
There is also a mysterious chill that surrounds a spot on one of the
landings.
