Castle Rising

castler.jpg (34564 bytes)
Queen Isabella was imprisoned at Castle Rising in Norfolk in 1328 by her son, Edward III. The reason for her punishment was that Isabella had given consent for her husband, Edward II, to be tortured to death. Such was her guilt for this that her anguished cries can be heard to this day floating mysteriously over the Norman keep.
