This historic castle is situated in Purbeck in
Dorset. In the past it has been home to many kings, including King Edward
the Martyr who was actually murdered in the grounds of the castle. King John
also had a connection with the place in so far as he locked 22 Frenchmen in
the dungeons and left them to starve to death.
The ghost that has been seen around the castle,
however, has no connection with these rather unsavoury tales. A figure of a
headless woman has been seen by many witnesses and some have claimed that
when the white figure appears they also feel a sharp chill in the air.
