Sawston Hall has been the home of the Huddleston family
for over 400 years. The family has entertained many important
historical figures there, including Mary Tudor, or Mary I of England, whose
ghost still haunts the building.
Mary Tudor was known as Bloody Mary due to the number of
religious persecutions she was involved in. She helped to build the house
that once stood on the site of the present hall. Her restless spirit now
walks the house and the grounds of Sawston.
A 'Lady in Gray' haunts the Tapestry Room of the hall,
although her identity is unknown. Strange knocks and eerie children's
laughter have also been reported.
