The
curators of Zurich Mansion, Lake Zurich's original haunted house, are about
to unveil their latest discovery, "The East Wing". Project
Director Dr. Schmidt explains, "We have spent the last two years
working to restore "The East Wing" so we may include this section
of this once proud and stately Manor in our tours. My staff is very excited
about being able to complete the restorations just in time for Halloween. We
know our guest taking the tours will not be disappointed with our recent
discoveries."
Dr.
BC Schmidt, with the help of his colleges, Professor Richmond,
historian D Meyers, architect D Bartels and M Perry will be guiding the
tours this year. Dr. Schmidt stated, "We only open Zurich Mansion to
the public during the Halloween season to raise money to benefit the Park
& Recreation Department.
Zurich
Mansion, located in what now is known as Paulus Park at 400 Whitney Road,
Lake Zurich, Illinois, was originally unearthed by the L. Z. Park &
Recreation Department in the early 80's. Having brought in Dr. Schmidt and
Professor Richmond to help explore and restore the ruins of the Mansion, Dr.
Schmidt became the Project Director after several top staff members were
lost while exploring a secret passageway. "Even though we have not
heard from them since, Professor Richmond continued, "we know the staff
is in there somewhere. There are a lot of places they could have wandered
into, but we are confident that we will find them someday soon. We will not
give up the search for our fellow colleges."
*Please note that the original Zurich Mansion is a collection of short
stories which were created by Bruce C Schmidt. Zurich Mansion Tours used
some of these short stories as a theme for Lake Zurich's Haunted House as a
fundraiser for the kids of Lake Zurich. Zurich Mansion Tours is no
longer associated with the village.
